Skin classic

The Skin Classic system is a non-laser device that addresses problem areas in the skin, such as cherry angiomas, skin tags, and other issues. This treatment is suitable for addressing the face, neck, chest, back, hands, and arms. This is a safe, non-invasive treatment for various superficial skin concerns, with minimal discomfort and immediate results.

What does the Skin Classic treat?

Cherry Moles - aka Cherry Angioma

Dark Spots - rough and smooth

Skin Tags - flat and raised

Red Veining on face - aka broken capillaries

Sebaceous Hyperplasia-overactive oil gland that produces a donut-shaped, raised bump on the face.

Whats the process?

We must begin every appointment with a Consultation to review the areas of concern and discuss expectations and aftercare. At the start of each appointment, we will talk about your concerns, go over what you expect, and explain how to care for the treated areas afterward.

If we decide to move forward, we will start with a numbing cream if needed. While the numbing does not take away ALL sensation. it does take the edge off. Once the area is numb, we will treat the spots you are concerned about. After the treatment, we will dry the area and give you instructions on how to care for it. Usually, you just need to keep the treated areas dry and clean.

Some areas only need one treatment, while others might need two or more. We will discuss this in more detail during your consultation.

FAQ

How many treatments will I need?

Most people only need one Skin Classic treatment. However, larger or more pigmented spots, or areas with many broken blood vessels, might need more than one session. In these cases, we treat the darkest spots first, and as they fade, lighter spots may become more noticeable and can be treated next for the best results. You should wait a full skin cycle, about 30 days, before having another treatment. By then, your skin will be fully healed.

What CAN'T be treated with the Skin Classic?

We don’t treat irregularities on the lower body as they tend to heal more slowly.

Anything with its own blood supply, like moles, should be checked by a dermatologist. Moles often have veins and sometimes hair, so it is important to make sure they are not cancerous.

Deeper veins, which often look more bluish and are not visible on the surface, may need special attention.

Melasma, sometimes called “Pregnancy Mask” is a very common skin pigment problem that causes dark, blotchy, and uneven skin tone on areas exposed to the sun, especially the face and neck.

Is the Skin Classic Treatment painful?

Its tolerable and only lasts seconds. Many clients have said it feels like a pin prick. In all actuality, it feels hot. As soon as the probe is lifted the sensation stops. The treatment usually does NOT require any numbing, but it is offered.

How much does the treatment cost?

SkinClassic treatment starts at $25 per spot or area treated. Full areas, such as the back or neck/chest, may be up to $250 but will be discussed in more detail at your FREE consultation appointment. Retreats are typically $25, but large areas, such as the back, start at $25 and may cost more depending on the time required. But it is always less than the initial appointment. Again, it will be discussed in detail during your consultation appt.

How do you assess what to treat or not treat?

At The Skin Hygienist, we love using our special viewing device, the DermLite, to help care for your skin. With this tool, your practitioner can easily and clearly see a range of skin conditions. The DermLite is a magnifying lens with an LED light and special polarizing filters, so there’s no glare when we examine your skin. This makes it simple to tell the difference between a mole and a skin tag, for example.

What exactly is the Skin Classic? is it a laser?

The SkinClassic device uses electro-desiccation. This means dehydration through electricity. That means we treat surface, epidermis-level irregularities. The machine produces high heat, which leads to the dehydration of the irregularity. In comparison, a laser treats the skin more deeply.

How many treatments will I need?

Many clients only need one, but we always schedule a "retreat" appointment 4-6 weeks later. While many of the irregularities are "one and done", others see a decrease in size or severity, but not complete dehydration. When treating large areas for dark spots, we treat the darkest spots first. At the retreat appointment, those lighter spots are more apparent and will be treated at the second retreat appointment. Some clients may need more than 1 retreat appointment

I have Darker, more melanated skin. Will Skin Classic work for me?

Yes! We will most likely start you on a simple, affordable home care product that helps regulate the overreaction of the melanocytes (melanin cells). After using the product as directed for 4-6 weeks, we can continue with the treatment. This is to help minimize dark scars and speed up healing. We'd hate to trade a skin tag for a scar.
